Finger Painting

What an artist we have! Today was cloudy and overcast so I decided to break out the finger paint and let Landon have a little messy fun today. This is not only good for his creativity but also his fine motor skills. He had such a good time getting his hands all "goopy" that I also most felt bad when it was time to stop. We have painted before but I was usually the one doing most of the work. Today I didn't have to do anything but put the paint onto the paper. He did the rest.

While we were playing today I thought about all the kids who have parents that don't allow their children to "get messy" and how much they are missing out on. Not only are the kids missing out on have great fun, the parents are missing out too. It brings joy to my heart to see Landon having fun. I don't even think it's that much trouble to get him ready, get the materials ready, and the clean-up is as simple as a wet rag. Memories.....That's what your creating and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

Summer Fun

It's hard to believe that the summer is almost over. Travis has been busy at work and Landon and I have been busy at the pool. Early in the summer I took Landon to Mommy & Me swim classes. It was at a indoor pool and the water was freezing! Needless to say, Landon did not enjoy the classes as well as I had hoped. Saying that, now that we are swimming in warm water he acts like a little duck. As time goes on he is getting braver and braver in the water. His favorite thing to do is for me to hold him out so that he can flap his arms and kick his feet like he is swimming. It makes not only me laugh but also other people watching.

A lot more has been going on this summer other than going to the pool. Landon has become a pro at walking behind his walker. He has also mastered going up the steps very quickly so Travis had to put up the gate. If you ask him if he is ready to take a bath he heads straight for the steps. He refuses to let us carry him up, he has to crawl up the stairs and into the bathroom. He goes straight for the tub and stands up next to it giggling. Another favorite thing is pulling everything off tables and chairs. If he can reach it, in the floor it goes. I guess it's his way of helping to keep things "cleaned up".

Landon's physical, speech, and occupational therapy is going very well. Landon has over 30 signed words as this point which is WONDERFUL. We are so proud of his progress. His favorite spoken word continues to be "Dad". What does he call me????? "Bob". Yep, Bob. He has not yet mastered the "M" sound so I'm learning to be happy with "Bob" for now.

As most of you know, Landon takes anti-seizure medication. We are currently taking him off of that and by September 1 he will no longer be on it. We continue to have faith that the LORD GOD has healed Landon and that he will remain seizure free. We cherish your continued prayers.
